The Royal Danish Embassy in Saudi Arabia, hosted a reception on the side-line of the Annual Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) Conference and Exhibition 2019 sponsored by Arla Foods, Novo Nordisk and Leo Pharma. Diplomats, government officials and business representatives enjoyed several healthy food options from organic starter to a variety of fresh juices and mocktails, and main courses from exclusive organic products served on compostable plant-based plates.

In his welcoming speech, H.E. the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to Saudi Arabia, Ole Moesby, congratulated the Danish companies on their big success in the SFDA annual exhibition and conference and on their positive contribution to the Saudi Arabian economy. Danish companies for many years have been active in developing trade relations between the two countries. Denmark is consistently ranked among the best countries in the world for doing business. Trust-worthiness, innovation, quality, global outlook and hard work are words associated with Danish companies. Furthermore, the Ambassador mentioned the initiatives and projects, driven by the Danish Trade Council in Riyadh, especially within the framework of SFDA annual conference and exhibition for food, drugs and medical devices, where Denmark had a significant participation also aligned with Saudi Arabia‘s Vision 2030 goals and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The annual SFDA conference and exhibition hosted some of the most important local and international experts in the field of food, drugs and medical devices. It was a great opportunity for Danish companies to meet with the main stakeholders in the healthcare and food sector.

The event at the Royal Danish Embassy coincided with the latest decision of the Saudi Industrial Development Fund to provide financing for renewable energy projects – the so called “Mutjadeda” program which is open for eligible local and foreign companies, based in Saudi Arabia. The Ambassador stressed in his speech the commitment of the Royal Danish Embassy to support the Saudi Arabian government with Danish expertise, especially in the light of the upcoming Saudi Arabian G20 presidency. The evening was under the motto of the Danish concept for sustainability which is a high priority for the Danish Government. The culinary ‘star of the night’ was creative chef Russel Clamp from Double Tree by Hilton. The food stalls at the event were illuminated using solar powered batteries instead of the conventional electrical lights.
