Djibouti Celebrates 49 Years of Independence with a Renewed Commitment to Peace and Partnership

On the occasion of the 49th Independence and National Day of the Republic of Djibouti, H.E. Ambassador and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Dya-Eddine Said Bamakhrama hosted an official reception at the Cultural Palace in Riyadh’s Diplomatic Quarter to celebrate this important national milestone.

In his address, Ambassador Bamakhrama reflected on the remarkable transformation witnessed by Djibouti over the past five decades, with particular emphasis on the achievements of recent years in the areas of development, security and stability under the leadership of H.E. President Ismail Omar Guelleh. He also praised the longstanding brotherly relations between Djibouti and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and highlighted the growing opportunities for enhanced economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two friendly nations.

H.E. Dya-Eddine Bamakhrama underlined Djibouti’s commitment to a prudent, balanced and forward-looking foreign policy that promotes dialogue, regional cooperation and peaceful solutions to conflicts. He reaffirmed his country’s dedication to constructive diplomacy and its active role in supporting peace and stability both regionally and internationally. The Ambassador stressed the importance of choosing peace over confrontation and reiterated Djibouti’s support for coexistence, sustainable development and mutual understanding among nations.

Ambassador Bamakhrama also reaffirmed Djibouti’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and for the legitimate right of the Palestinian people to establish an independent State with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The celebration was attended by Saudi officials, members of the diplomatic corps, distinguished business leaders, media representatives, intellectuals, artists, members of the Djiboutian community in the Kingdom and friends of Djibouti.
