The Wives of Heads of Mission (WHOM) and WHOM President Dr. Manu Cervone d’Urso Lucarelli hosted their annual event in celebration of International Women’s Day at the Belgian Ambassadors Residence on March 28, 2019. This year the event -entitled “WOMEN, the 1st”- put the spotlights on the past and present role models for future generations. ìThis day provides a unique occasion for all of us, regardless of our country of origin, our respective cultures and beliefs, to praise the positive role of women in Saudi Arabia and throughout the world.î – Dr. Manu Cervone dUrso Lucarelli
Among those recognized was HRH Princess AlJoharah Bint Talal Bin AbdulAziz AlSaud, future thinker and nurturer of ambitious entrepreneurship who gave an outstanding and inspirational message to women in Saudi Arabia and globally. WHOM also awarded a plaque of appreciation to launch editor-in-chief of first Vogue Arabia edition, Princess Deena Anjuhani Abdulaziz; one of the first Shura Council members, Hoda Al-Helaissi; physician-scientist Prof. Khawla S. Al-Kuraya; pharmacy pioneer Dr. Amal Fatani; first Saudi female CFA, Khlood Aldukeil; first woman Head of Center for Development of Urban Design at Momra, architect Dhay Al-dhawyan; co-founder of Oasis Magazine and Saudi Design Week, Noura Bouzo; first female new anchor Weam Al dahkeel; first female technical diver Nouf Alosaimi; first Saudi manga artist, Samah Hashim Kamil; and fashion consultant and influencer Hala Muwaffak Alharith. Photographer Tasneem AlSultan, who was also awarded, previewed her collection of photographs showing the unique changes in women’s lives entitled Saudi Tales of Love.
Dr. Lucarelli concluded, “What you did in the past, and what you have achieved with great pride and sacrifices, provide an example to all women to remain resilient and never give up on their dreams. Times are with women!”
