Huge amount of efforts to enhance entertainment and tourism over the past years are embellished with numerous historic records which paved the way for the Kingdom to achieve various titles and recognitions from the Guinness World Records.

Here are some of the world records set by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for 2022:

Most Remote-operated Drones Launching Fireworks Simultaneously (Riyadh Season 2022 Opening Ceremony)

The exhilarating opening ceremony of Riyadh Season 2022 recorded the most remote-operated multi rotors/drones launching fireworks simultaneously on October 21, 2022.

As the momentous occasion took place, a total of 548 drones lit up the calm evening skies of Riyadh and formed images showing the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi flag, and Riyadh Season’s slogan “Beyond Imagination.”

Largest Pop-Up Outlet Center (Outlet 2022 Shopping Festival)

The biggest shopping festival catering to the shopaholics of Riyadh achieved the largest pop-up outlet center which opened on October 1, 2022.

Hundreds of discounted local and international brands for fashion, travel, gadgets, and more gathered several Riyadh shoppers in the 146,624m² lot purely dedicated to non-stop shopping which continued for two weeks.

Largest Special Stamp (Saudi Post Special Riyadh Season Stamp)

In commemoration of the second Riyadh Season, Saudi Post unveiled a 5.95m² special stamp which stamped its way to be the largest special stamp in the Guinness World Records.

The Saudi Post special stamp design features the Riyadh Season logo, a hot air balloon, fireworks, and the Winter Wonderland. It broke the record set by Disney in 2019 which measures 4.11m².

Most Simultaneous Pepper’s Ghost Illusions of a Person (Mohammed Abdu Concert)

Local concert goers were granted a visual treat through Mohammed Abdu’s concert during the second Riyadh Season in January 14, 2022 where five holographic images of the Saudi singer were shown on stage achieving the most simultaneous pepper’s ghost illusions of a person.

Mohammed Abdu then physically appeared on stage for a live performance in the event entitled “The Night of Al Maazeem.”

World Records of Riyadh’s BLVD WORLD

Riyadh Season bagged several Guinness World Records for its largest LED light ball with a dimeter of 35m, largest artifical lake with an area of 12.19 hectares, largest metal sculpture of a fictional character (Grendizer at 33.7m), and the tallest portable rollercoaster, the Skyloop at 46m. Nearby, the largest music production studio, Merwas, is located at the BLVD RUH CITY.

Every achievement gained by Saudi Arabia is a celebration and an encouragement to develop more activities that will help boost the entertainment and tourism sector of the country in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

Through earning and breaking world titles, Saudi Arabia continues to break boundaries and move forward to create new aspirations and triumphs.

SAUDI ARABIA’S FUN RECORD-BREAKING FEATS

  • The Makkah Clock Royal Tower stands 601m high making it the tallest clock tower in the world which also has the largest clock face measuring 43m in diameter.
  • The largest LEGO brick build of a Formula 1 built using over 500,000 bricks measuring 5.73m x 2.32m x 1.15m and was achieved by the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation.
  • The Saudi Arabia Pavilion in Expo 2020 brought home three world titles such as largest interactive lighting display which consisted of 7,798 lights, the longest interactive water feature, and the largest LED mirror screen display of 32m.
  • The Jeddah Superdome is the largest freestanding dome measuring 210.107m in diameter.
  • The largest Hot Air Balloon Glow Show took place in AlUla in association with the Saudi Arabian Hot Air Balloon Federation and had a total of 142 hot air balloons.
  • The Avalanche Fun Slide of Riyadh Boulevard City holds the record of having the most lanes on a fun slide with a total of 24 lanes and the tallest fun slide in the world measuring 22.136m.
  • The Highway 10 is a 240-km stretch of freeway connecting Highway 75 of Haradh area to Highway 95 of AlBatha in the east of Saudi Arabia with no bends left or right making it the world’s longest straight road.
  • The largest billboard in the world is at the King Khaled International Airport measuring 250m long x 12m tall.
  • The AlMasaa Café in Riyadh is the largest coffee shop in world which has 1,050 seats.
  • Craving for burger? I’m Hungry, a restaurant in Jeddah, will not run out of space for you with its area of 2,860 sqm (equivalent to 11 tennis courts!) awarded the largest burger restaurant in the world.
