Tell us about yourself.

I am a Lebanese/American who moved to Riyadh in March of this year from the United States. I’ve been setting up a home-based business with my sister called “cheese’n’dip”. We cater mostly to DQ residents, preparing cheese trays and many others.

How would family and friends describe you?

They would describe me as an extroverted introvert. My friends and family would say I’m an outgoing person who loves a night out with friends as much as she loves a night in watching Netflix on the couch.

Who or what have been the strongest influences in your life?

I worked with refugees from different backgrounds for 10 years in Istanbul, Turkey. I would say that every one of them has affected my life throughout those years and has left an impression on the person I am today.

What brought you to Riyadh?

I came here to be with my sister and her family.

What led you to your career and how has Saudi Arabia helped you in your career goals?

I have a background in Psychology and was always interested in humanitarian work. That’s what led me to my career path. However here in Riyadh, I am doing something completely different which is a nice change, especially after the pandemic and after having to stay indoors for so long.

What are you most proud of accomplishing so far?

All the work I have done with refugees as well as the small business that my sister and I have started recently.

What are your thoughts and insights on being a resident of Saudi Arabia?

Considering that it is the first time I have ever been to Saudi Arabia, I can see a lot of potential for Riyadh in the future. There is a huge expat community, especially here in the DQ, which is great.

Where are your favorite places to visit in Riyadh?

I love to visit the old souks as well as the desert.

What were your first impressions of the DQ?

I’ve only been here for 2 months. I can see that it’s a small, tight knit community that sticks together. I love how everyone knows everyone.

What do you like most about the DQ?

What I like most about the DQ is the variety of people. It’s a melting pot of nationalities. It’s also very safe and you have everything you need at the tip of your fingers.

What is something you wish the DQ had, but currently doesn’t?

Concept stores and more small specialty boutiques. Since there are so many nationalities here, it would be nice to see an array of products/stores that reflect that.

Any tips/recommendations/advice for your DQ neighbors?

What are you looking forward to in the coming season?
