Bangladesh Embassy Celebrates Victory Day

The Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh celebrated the 48th anniversary of the Victory Day at the Diplomatic Quarters in Riyadh on December 16, 2019. To mark the day, Ambassador Golam Moshi hoisted the Bangladesh national flag at full mast in the morning. Hundreds of Bangladeshi expatriates from Riyadh and adjacent cities and embassy officials joined the program. Ambassador Moshi paid tribute to the martyrs by placing floral wreaths at the replica of the National Mausoleum inside the embassy. A day long program was organized at the chancery building premises to celebrate the occasion. A one minute solemn silence was observed to pay homage to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the martyrs of the liberation war of 1971. Messages from the President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, released on the occasion, were read out by the officials of the Mission.


Ambassador Moshi said Bangladesh has achieved independence through the nine-months-long bloodstained Liberation War under the leadership of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and with the sacrifice of the lives of three million people. Today, Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly to implement the Bangabandhu’s Golden Bengal dream and to make Bangladesh a developed country by 2041.

The Ambassador also mentioned that under the dynamic leadership of the Prime Minister, Bangladesh’s recent development has been praised as the ‘Role Model’ of development for many countries in the world. He urged the new generation to come forward to work hard to build Bangladesh in the spirit of the Liberation War. Emphasizing to build a corruption free society he said, it is important to eradicate corruption from all spheres of society to ensure the benefits of independence.

Golam Moshi said the remittance sent by Bangladeshi expatriates plays a vital role to build Bangladesh; and the embassy is always ready to serve them as a recognition of their contribution. The Bangladesh Embassy installed several Expatriate Digital Centers in many cities in the Kingdom to provide services for all. At the end of the program, a special Munajat was offered for the peace and prosperity of the country.
