The classic bubble tea drink originated in Taiwan and has been one of the favorite summer drinks of many. Composed of milk tea, chewy tapioca pearls (the “bubbles” or “boba”), and ice, this drink has been popular in various Asian countries and finally, Riyadh got the drift and several shops have opened to cater to cravings for these sweet, frothy beverage.

Tiger Sugar is one of the original shops of bubble tea. Started in Taichung, Taiwan in 2017, Tiger Sugar grew popular with their bestselling original brown sugar bubble tea with fresh cream and a unique tiger stripe design. They use an 8-hour method of cooking for their syrups and tapioca pearls delivering a sweet, creamy, milky tea drink with chewy bubbles. They have since expanded to other countries including Saudi Arabia recently. Their branch opened in the new Park Avenue and has been flocked by a lot of people wanting to get a taste of their authentic, unforgettable drinks.

If you are craving for bubble milk tea immediately, there might be a BUBBLES TREE branch near you. It’s one of the earliest shops in Riyadh that offered the drink along with their coffees and juices. Apart from milk teas, they also have refreshing juices that has popping boba, a sphere that contains natural fruit juices. Flavors include lychee, passion fruit, strawberry, etc. These take your drinks to another level of fun and flavor.

CAFE FRANCAIS

Cafe Francais is also one of the earliest shops that sold bubble milk teas in Riyadh. Importing their ingredients in Taiwan, the coffee shop promised refreshing milk teas in various flavors that have the signature chewy tapioca pearls. Flavors include Winter Melon, Matcha, Okinawa, Taro, Mango, Avocado, and more. They also added some cream cheese on top that made their drinks sweet, salty, and creamy. There are also cafés that have bubble milk teas in their menu. You can pair them with their main courses, pastries or desserts.

HALO (@halorestaurant1) is a restaurant in Suleimania that serves Filipino street food. Their restaurant is popular for karaoke too. However, a gem in their menu is their milk teas with various flavors. They can also be topped by cream cheese for another level of milk tea goodness.
