Since the third week of December 2019, a new strain of coronavirus has appeared causing a pandemic disease around the world which killed a huge number of people in days. It became the main virus to focus on and fight against. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia made all the efforts to help save people’s lives and care for patients with special cases to the fullest. And since among the absolute rights of every individual in this country is the preservation of his security and mental, physical, and psychological health, and not tampering with matters of religion and the safety of family and economic status, the authorities imposed precautionary measures to limit the spread of infection among the people by breaking the chain of infection between the infected groups from the principle of no harm and no causing harm either.

In order to fight this war against the coronavirus, some of the preventive measures that the country has undertaken are providing free vaccines to everyone in the Kingdom to build a protective shield against the virus; sharing information on protection, prevention, isolation, and treatment on social media platforms and audio-visual broadcasting organizations; and directing instructions in food and public procurement stores until the situation was generally controlled.

With continued adherence to these restrictions, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was able to be among the top developed countries in addressing this pandemic, with fewer deaths and injuries than the rest of the world, and was also ranked second place in the Nikkei COVID-19 recovery index among 120 countries based on the recovery rate from the pandemic.

Starting from common influenza virus, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS coronavirus), until the last mutant Omicron variant of COVID-19, respiratory diseases became more dangerous to the public health worldwide and waiting for such thing called the end of a virus will lead to end the life cycle on this planet. Life cycle, in Biology, is the series of changes that the members of a species undergo as they pass from the beginning of a given developmental stage to the inception of that same developmental stage in a subsequent generation, and in real life we can translate this definition by simply saying that man feeds on plants or animals, and in turn, they feed on insects and microorganisms that cannot be seen with the naked eye, as well as life goes on. Once you look closely at this cycle, you will psychologically accept that it is okay to adapt with your current situation, as you read this article and received vaccination doses against this virus and that you are in a great blessing.

We, at the Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Center, are one with the government in continuing the fight against COVID-19. We encourage everyone to visit our center for full shots of COVID-19 vaccines and for emergency medical checkup upon suspicions of infection. The Infectious Diseases and Internal Medicine clinics follow up on all kinds of infection.

We encourage everyone to perform hand hygiene, learn the respiratory hygiene steps to reduce chances of infections, and wear protection equipment. Once you have the symptoms and tested positive, please isolate to protect the people around you.
