Ramadan on the Platform of Diplomacy

Ramadan is the celebration of life. Through this celebration, people once again reclaim their holy traditions, which cultivate within people the dignity of human life. It is the time when individuals and communities make the inner reach to renew their calling to serve one another and uplift each other’s life. Ramadan reawakens within people the wisdom and compassion to live a meaningful and purposeful life. Religious traditions are a necessity which ought to be respected in action. Undoubtedly, for a true believer, Ramadan brings change. In many ways, Ramadan is a ritual act, which needs to be infused in everyday life.

Ramadan is celebrated in diplomatic circles too, thus bringing diplomacy on a new level of understanding and respect between nations.

DEAN OF DIPLOMATIC CORPS

Ambassador Dya-Eddine Said Bamakhrama

Embassy of Djibouti

On behalf of the President of the Republic of Djibouti, people of Djibouti and the embassy team, I would like to convey our warmest wishes to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the Crown Prince, the Saudi people and Muslims around the world on the festive occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadan. Ramadan is a sacred time of the year, which invites us to reflect on the wisdom and guidance, empowering us in our faith life, in our journey of prayers for the well-being and prosperity for the people around the world. Ramadan is the time to begin a new life with a renewed hope, increased mindfulness, and a desire to serve mankind and above all to express our gratitude for the blessings graced upon us. As we continue to restore our hope daily, despite distressful times, we must also strive our undying efforts to support all those who are suffering and vulnerable worldwide. This Ramadan comes in a very difficult time as we witness a human tragedy in Gaza and we pray for Allah, in this blessed month, to help Palestinians and end their pain and suffering. May the light of Ramadan illuminate the darkest nights. Ramadan Kareem!

Ambassador Dr. Mohammad Javed Patwary, BPM (Bar)

Embassy of Bangladesh

It is with great pleasure that I extend my warmest regards to all the esteemed diplomats in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as to the cherished community members of Bangladesh in KSA. Dear friends, esteemed colleagues, and all fellow Muslims in the upcoming Holy Ramadan, may the blessings and mercy of Allah shower upon us and the entire world during this Ramadan. May we be granted the wisdom to internalize the great teachings of Ramadan, particularly self-discipline and empathy. I humbly wish for peace, tolerance, and happiness for all. Ramadan Kareem.

Ambassador Liselotte Kjærsgaard Plesner

Embassy of Denmark

I extend warm greetings and heartfelt wishes to friends and colleagues on the occasion of Ramadan. What strikes me is that many of my friends make use of Ramadan to reflect and go deeper. Personally, I have made sure to bring out my beautiful Ramadan-themed lanterns around the house. I have just concluded a visit to Madinah, Wadi Disah and Hail – and the beauty, nature and hospitality was breath-taking. From Madinah I brought home the delicious Ajwa dates. From my road trips I get a fairly good impression of others parts of the country than Riyadh. And although development is at a breath-taking pace in the capital, I sense the transformation is shaping the outlook also in rural areas and smaller towns. I learned from my friends that the spirit of Ramadan is all about reflection, self-discipline and compassion, as well as showing kindness, generosity and understanding. Wishing everyone a Ramadan filled with joy, good health and spiritual fulfilment. Ramadan Kareem!

Ambassador Anu-Eerika Viljanen

Embassy of Finland

On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, I am honored to convey my heartfelt wishes for happiness, health, joy, laughter and prosperity to all Saudis. I would also like to take this opportunity to compliment Saudi Arabia and its leadership for the great transformation that has begun as a result of ambitious Vision 2030. What is more beautiful, it is no longer a vision, it is becoming a reality, more and more every day. I would also like to convey my country’s congratulations on all the significant achievements related to Vision 2030 and beyond. It is a great pleasure and honor for me to see all this happening. I am especially happy that I and my home country Finland can be part of a common journey with you. Have a wonderful Ramadan. May your holy month be filled with abundant blessings for you and your family. Ramadan Kareem!

Ambassador Michael Kindsgrab

It is my pleasure and my honor to extend, on behalf of the entire team of the German Embassy in Riyadh, my warmest congratulations to the Saudi people, Muslims in the Kingdom, in Germany and around the world, as we welcome the holy month of Ramadan. Ramadan is a very special season in the Muslim calendar, and the air in Riyadh has been filled for quite some time with joy and anticipation. For me personally, it is my first Ramadan in the Kingdom and I very much look forward to experiencing the traditions of this important month in Saudi Arabia, the rich customs and shared moments of togetherness with my team and our Muslims friends. To all those who are observing Ramadan, we wish you a blessed and peaceful Ramadan Kareem and a delightful time together with your families and friends.

Ambassador Alireza Enayati

Embassy of Iran

I have been living in Saudi Arabia during the holy month of Ramadan before, and I have felt the distinctive atmosphere of the society in Riyadh. I hope I can renew my good memories in this lively Islamic city. The message of the holy month of Ramadan is peace, brotherhood and friendship; in this holy month, relying on the thoughts of Islam, we will witness unity and more kindness than in the past. Ramadan teaches human beings, courses of peace instead of violence and unity instead of division. Ramadan is the best opportunity to show the real image of Islam to the world and the best time for strengthening ties, unity and brotherhood between Muslim nations. In this beloved month, we wish progress and prosperity for all the people of the world, especially the Muslims and the people of the friendly and brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Ambassador Thomas Lid Ball

Royal Norwegian Embassy

For Muslims, Ramadan is the holiest and most blessed month of the year. It is an important period celebrated by Muslims to purify the mind, body and spirit, extend support and benevolence to the needy, praise virtue and abstain from evil. It is also a time featuring harmony, compassion and benevolence in Islam. Through my period in Saudi Arabia, I have come to witness Ramadan is a month of compassion, self-reflection, and a chance for communities to come together. It is also a special time marked by devotion, humility, and the spirit of helping others. At the auspicious moment, on behalf of the Norwegian Mission in Saudi Arabia, my wife Camilla and I express best wishes for Muslims across Saudi Arabia and the world to enjoy peace and prosperity in holy month of Ramadan. Ramadan Kareem to you all.

Ambassador Ahmad Farooq

Embassy of Pakistan

The blessed month of Ramadan is an important event in the Muslim calendar. It enriches us all, individually as well as a society. Ramadan teaches us discipline and self-control, and resets our lives by elevating us spiritually. By keeping fast all day and indulging in self-reflection and meditation, we not only improve our connection with the Creator but also become better versions of ourselves. Muslim communities around the world observe this holy month to cherish the true essence of their religion. Ramadan is also about bringing the community together, and sharing Allah’s blessings and bounties with our fellows. It teaches us to take care of the less fortunate in our societies as Muslims extensively give out alms and Zakat to the deserving. I wish all my fellow Muslims, and all those who find themselves basking in the blessings of this holy month, a very enriching and rewarding Ramadan.

Ambassador Robert Rostek

Embassy of Poland

May the time of fasting and piety bring people closer to their loved ones and strengthen the bonds of community. May hearts be filled with compassion, homes with peace, and spirits with joy. Wishing you and your families a blessed Ramadan, filled with worship, welfare, forgiveness, obedience, good health, acceptable fasting and delicious Iftar. Ramadan Mubarak!
