The public spaces of Riyadh are thriving and blooming, not only with trees, plants, and flowers, but also with street art by local artists.

You may have noticed by now the art in walls of Riyadh’s popular areas and streets. Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Culture has launched initiatives and programs to support “street artists” to express their creativity through beautiful and artistic graffiti using spray paints, markers, stencils, and more. Apart from supporting local artists, this program also aims to beautify public spaces and spheres as part of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

The initiative was divided into two stages: first is to remove distorted scriptures in the walls and second is the covering of the walls with murals painted by famous Saudi artists. Locations chosen for these graffiti art are usually near a traffic light or within a public place to maximize the potential viewing of the art form. The activities also raise citizens’ and residents’ awareness, public ethics, and responsibility towards public spaces to keep the city beautiful and attractive making Riyadh one of the world’s most livable cities.

See and enjoy these bold and compelling art creations in Tahlia Street, the area around Jax 01 in Diriyah, and Prince Muhammad Bin Abdulaziz Road, Sulimaniyah District.
