Penne, which translates to the word “pen”, is one of the most famous Italian pasta shapes. Here are two simple recipes for penne that you can whip up in your own kitchen and only take a few steps to prepare.

PENNE WITH RAGU

This is a perfect recipe for the gathering of family and friends. It is a dish we love to eat all together while sharing a good chat with the family, enjoying the perfect matching of the ingredients especially in the cold days of the winter. This dish is also very healthy because it has proteins and carbohydrates.

Ingredients:

  • 1 carrot
  • 1 red onion
  • 1 celery
  • Oil of olive, extra virgin
  • 500g minced veal meat
  • Pureed tomatoes
  • Stock
  • Parmesan reggiano, grated
  • Salt
  • Black pepper

Method:

  1. Chop all the vegetables and make the Soffritto (finely chopped carrots, onions, celery, sauteed slowly with a little olive oil), goldening it for 10 minutes.
  2. Add the pureed tomatoes and the stock.
  3. Stir for a couple of hours.
  4. Boil the penne pasta as you like and add the Ragu.
  5. Add the oil, the parmesan, and the pepper.

PENNE WITH CHERRY TOMATOES AND FRESH BASIL

It is one of my favourite dishes during the warmer season. It is very quick and easy but so delicious. Italian food means very often the joy for the delicious taste, sharing in good company with family and good health because it is made with high quality, simple, and healthy ingredients. We enjoy eating Penne with fresh vegetables especially in the hot summer days, on the sea side, after a long swim.

Ingredients:

  • 500g of penne pasta
  • A few fresh basil leaves
  • 100g of fresh cherry tomatoes
  • 50g of fresh grated Parmesan Reggiano – Cheese
  • Black ground pepper
  • Salt
  • Oil of olive, extra virgin

 Method:

  1. Boil apart the penne pasta as desired.
  2. Chop the cherry tomatoes in small cubes and add to the hot penne together with the fresh basil leaves.
  3. Add the ground pepper, the salt, the parmesan, and the oil.
