The weather is just right again to return to the golf course. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned player, golf has its amazing benefits for your body and mind. In your quest to be fit and strong this year, may the course be with you.

Golf is a fascinating game; a sport that is rich in tradition and history. Most of us think of it as a passive game that doesn’t give much room for exercise. However, golf is more exercise than you think and it’s a tee-rific activity to hit a hole in one in your fitness goals this year.

THE R&A, a leading body within the world of golf, has published a new golf and health report that shows the physical and mental benefits of golf. Since 2016, R&A and its partners have sought to raise awareness of the health benefits of gold to encourage people of all ages to participate in the sport. According to the study, the health benefits of playing golf are significant: it allows golfers to enjoy a form of exercise and boosts mental wellbeing in a social environment. As a sport that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, abilities, and background, golf, as a physical activity, can help prevent and treat over 40 major chronic diseases including diabetes, heart attack, and stroke. The study found that on average, golfers live five years longer than non-golfers.

Golf presents golfers and even spectators the opportunity to engage in moderate intensity physical activity. There is a certain amount of cardiovascular activity that is involved in golf just by walking the course. Most courses are spread over multiple acres of flat and hilly grounds. Provided, of course, you forgo the golf cart and leg it from one green to another. Swinging a club and lifting golf bags also train your strength and work your muscles. Golf also helps balance your body and build a strong core. The sport also needs a great amount of focus and concentration and so it does not only exercise your body but also your brain.

Golf is a great all-around way to exercise both the body and the mind. Fortunately, Saudi Arabia has active golf courses where you can practice and play.

Golf Saudi, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Saudi Golf Federation tasked with developing the game of golf in the Kingdom, has listed the active golf courses where you can play in Saudi Arabia.
