Founded in the Sultanate of Oman in 1983 as the ‘The Gift of Kings,’ Amouage is a High Perfumery House renowned for creating some of the most finely crafted perfumes in the world. A sophisticated style that speaks of unsurpassed craftsmanship, quality and creative integrity, Amouage perfumes captivate with their exceptional ingredients and presentation. With a strong commitment to Omani roots and desire to make something that lasts for a very long time, each creation is meticulously handcrafted and aesthetically blended to provide an enveloping patina and graceful silage.
The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman organized an immersive journey of Amouge to Riyadh. This event was the start of a series of similar undertakings to be presented by the Omani Embassy throughout 2023 to rethink the key areas of cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman.
In a compelling speech, the Ambassador of Oman, HH Sayyid Faisal bin Turki Al Said expressed his gratitude to Amouage and the team for bringing their story to Riyadh. “I want to express my sincere gratitude for believing in the idea of multifaceted cooperation in various sectors of the economy and business and taking this outstanding high perfumery house as a start.”
The Ambassador HH Al Said expressed his appreciation to Sayyid Khalid Al Busaidi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Amouage, who believed in the new concept of diplomacy between the two countries and spared no effort to make the evening unforgettable. Recalling the core concept of Amouage, Sayyid Khalid Al Busaidi highlighted how the brand has changed the Arabian art of perfumery and gained a worldwide reputation of a niche perfume. He invited guests to feel the depth and harmony of contrasts created by Amouage through floral versatility, spices and woody notes packaged in exquisite bottles, waiting to be opened.
In his remarks on the significance of the event, Mr. Marco Parsiegla, Chief Executive Officer, highlighted that Riyadh, the Embassy of Oman, and the whole aura created were the best approach to welcome Amouge in Saudi Arabia. Mr. Marco Parsiegla shared the success story of Amouage by stating, “Amouage is Oman and Oman is Amouage. At Amouage, we have been gifted with the wonderful inspiration of this mesmerizing country. We, Amouage, would like to take this opportunity to share with you and the world our passion for perfumery and make sure that a little piece of Oman appears in every corner of the world.”
With over four decades of history and legacy, Amouage has become one of the fastest-growing brands in the industry, and is one of the top three regional players, expanding to Asia and the Americas. Amouage’s creations have captivated a global audience and are now available in over 80 countries. It has 12 boutiques and is represented in a network of approximately 1000 of the world’s best department stores, perfume shops and airports.
Amouage combines the utmost attention to detail with an absolute commitment to the highest quality standards. Each perfume consists of top, middle and base notes. The top notes are light, the middle notes last longer, and the base notes are the strongest, creating a silage. While consumers can meet the experienced craftsmen and observe the various stages of perfume production in Oman, Renaud Salmon, Chief Experience Officer, shared some of the secrets of this outstanding brand and its art of creating harmony between top and base notes.
“Amouage is a high perfume with some key ingredients that make it unique. First of all, it is an exceptionally fine and fragrant frankincense grown and harvested by Amouage. The second unique ingredient is the rose extract, sourced from carefully grown Damask roses and harvested at dawn to preserve essential oils and fragrance. The third key ingredient in Amouage is amber, a natural and very precious ingredient that washes the shores of Oman and makes our perfumes rich, warm, sensual and long-lasting.”
Indeed, as the German writer Patrick Süskind wrote, odors have “a power of persuasion stronger than that of words, appearances, emotions, or will.” The irresistible power of over 60 Amouage fragrances and their notes cannot be forgotten once put on; it is like a breath that fills and absorbs completely. The guests were veiled with the best traditions of Arabic perfumery, the aromas of which carried them from one memory to another, leaving a pleasant bitterness of “loss.” Isn’t that the purpose of fragrances as living sources of time and memories?
