Om Zaina Yoga is the newest addition to the Diplomatic Quarter’s fitness scene. Located behind the Lebanese Embassy, Om Zaina Yoga creates a haven for those looking to stay active and reduce stress. Some may wonder how this ancient Indian practice produces so many benefits. Yoga Alliance-certified founder and instructive Bethany Al-Haidari says it’s the breathing and posture are the keys to keeping the body healthy. “Other activities like running and weight lifting are harder on your body over time,” she says. “Yoga is a gentle way to work on flexibility and to move different muscle groups. Yoga’s focus on the mind makes it a well-rounded practice.”

Om Zaina Yoga offers a variety of one-hour classes, twice daily for all levels and expecting mothers. Students can enjoy an indoor, candlelit practice in their fully-equipped studio or practice to nature’s soundtrack in the DQ’s gardens and parks. All classes begin and end with meditation and breathing techniques. Om Zaina Yoga strives to create a sense of community through the practice of yoga. “Our community is what sets us apart,” says Al-Haidari. “Our students practice where they live; the same students that meet in class also see each other walking about the neighborhood. You are not going to get that in a downtown studio.”

Om Zaina Yoga’s newly renovated studio, scheduled to open in September, will maintain a moderate class size of up to 20 people.

Classes Offered:

  • Gentle Hatha – All levels. Slow paced practices that improve flexibility and promote relaxation. Excellent for those suffering from pain, are pregnant or a yoga novice.
  • Prana Vinyasa – All levels. Strong flow sequences that balance the elements while building strength and flexibility. Set to inspiring and relaxing music.
  • Ashtanga – All levels. Synchronizes the breath with a progressive series of postures which build strength and flexibility.
  • Power Vinyasa – Intermediate to advanced levels. An intense, full body workout set to uplifting music. For building strength, flexibility, and weight loss.

Prices:

  • Group classes: 75 SAR per class
  • One-to-one private classes: 350 SAR per class
  • Group private classes: 350 SAR base + 50 SAR per person
