Have you ever seen ambassadors jumping over fire? If the answer is yes, then you have probably been among the attendees of the Turkish Spring Festival in Riyadh, which was held last March 9, 2019 at the Turkish Embassy in the Diplomatic Quarter.
With this traditional ritual for the spring festival of Nowruz, the Ambassador of Turkey to Saudi Arabia, HE Erdogan Kok, along with his colleagues from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, inaugurated the event. It was a great delight, not only for the officials and Turklish community in Riyadh, but for the whole DQ as well. The venue was crowded, colorful and joyful. The alleys around the embassy were like models of the famous Kapali Carsi in Istanbul filled with a variety of traditional goods on display .The guests were enjoying delicious Turkish food like simit and dondurma, the Turkish ice cream served in a playful manner. Meanwhile, folkloric dances and songs were presented by performers wearing traditional clothes. They have greatly contributed to this pleasure for all the senses.
Some of the artists were in Riyadh to represent their countries at the Nomad Universe held during the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival. Guests enjoyed the opportunity to try the artists’ original attire and take pictures with them. There were plenty of kids activities in the Spring Festival such as face painting, bouncy castles, crafts and lots of cotton candy. А message for peаce and friendship, the Turkish Spring Festival really felt like a celebration of a beginning and awakening of a new season.
