The Stories Stan Shares Through His Dishes

When you recall your warmest family moments, you will realize they are often stories shared at the dinner table or celebrations over a special meal. Raised in a household of many professional cooks, Chef Stanislaw Bobowski understands that every dish tells a story and evokes a warm memory. Chef Stan’s enthusiasm in growing with the company and interest to be part of the booming hotel industry in the growing market of Saudi Arabia inspired him to join as an Executive Chef at the Marriott DQ in October 2019. He is in awe of the cultural awareness amongst the Saudi people remarking that it is particularly exciting to prepare a dining experience for people who are willing to try something new and explore different cuisines. All this is helping him prepare a more lavish dining experience for the visitors of Goji Restaurant starting this fall.

Chef Stan comes from a family with a long history of cooking; his mother and grandparents were chefs and as they passed on their love for food, the chef and his siblings have also been drawn towards a career in the culinary arts. His family was a strong supporter of organic farming and many of the ingredients used were grown at home. He recalls picking out his own vegetables and cooking with his family from a very young age, which made him passionate with cooking early in life.

Chef Stan’s profession in the culinary arts started at the age of 19, as he enrolled to be part of a cooking fleet on a cruise ship. Despite the strong competition, he was chosen for the job. Excited to travel around the world and learn from the high stakes professional kitchen, he left his hometown in Poland and embarked on a life changing experience. Cooking with his kitchen team for up to 3000 people from scratch three times a day created a busy kitchen, and the high volume of work allowed him to perfect the most efficient way to prepare dishes. This experience also allowed Chef Stan to strengthen his skills in leading a kitchen for over seven years and become an organized and focused leader in the process. At each port the cruise ship docked at, Chef Stan also got the incredible opportunity to experience different cities and their cuisines.

He continued his culinary journey as an Executive Chef for the Marriott Group across England in Swindon, Solihull, Bristol and Birmingham. He has also worked at St Petersburg, Russia for the past two years. All this experience allowed him to the chef to truly hone his skills and expand his horizons. He said that over the past 20 years, he witnessed a lot of change in cooking. Food has become a more exciting experience, a special indulgence to share with loved ones and an opportunity to create memories over exquisite dining experiences.
