With the Second Edition of Summer Camps Program in 13 Centers across the Kingdom
The 5-week program is aimed to help boys and girls between the ages of 6-17 to keep active during the summer months.
The Saudi Sports for All Federation (SFA) is geared up to launch the second edition of its Summer Camps Program. Registration was opened for kids ages 6-18, in where the camps offer a variety of activities for youth to engage in during their summer vacation, centered around sports, entertainment, education, and the development of life skills.
Starting on July 17th, boys and girls across different cities excitedly began participating in the Summer Camps Program, held Sundays through Thursdays between 5 PM and 10 PM. The program is a part of SFA’s ongoing Neighbourhood Clubs Program, which was launched in January of this year to provide an assortment of events and challenges catered towards all ages and physical fitness levels. The Summer Camps Program will utilize the facilities of schools and community centers for the camp’s proceedings, held within thirteen locations and across eleven cities.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Sport, Ministry of Education, and other participating Federations, SFA’s Summer Camps Program will provide a fun and educational environment that keeps youth active and excited to participate. In addition to gracious support from the public sector, last year’s edition of the Summer Camps saw the SFA collaborate with eight private sector entities in Riyadh, Jeddah, and the Eastern Province to keep kids active during the summer months.
Throughout the program, campers will be able to try their hand at sports like football, basketball, martial arts, volleyball, tennis, Zumba and billiards. The schedule also includes weekly challenges, talent competitions, recreational activities, as well as e-sports. Additionally, campers will develop a new life skill each week, including health and first aid, safety and self-defense, home management skills, arts and crafts and environmental awareness.
These weekly skill development workshops will be overseen and assisted by coaches and experts from different sector entities, including the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, Saudi Red Crescent Authority, and a number of Private Sector Health Providers.
At the conclusion of the summer camp on August 18th, an end of camp celebration will be held, with a slideshow recapping the summer’s moments, a certificate for all participants showcasing what campers learned throughout the summer and a bazaar, inviting small family businesses in the community to participate.
In efforts to make the camps as accessible as possible, more than 3000 spots are open for boys and girls within the Kingdom to participate. For boys, the Summer Camps will take place at eight community centers and schools in the cities of Riyadh, Jeddah, Dhahran, Taif, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, Tabuk and Hafar Al-Batin. For girls, the Summer Camps will take place at five Neighbourhood Club locations in Riyadh, Jeddah, Jubail, Unayzah and Hail.
Parents and guardians signed their summer campers up through the Sports for All Neighbourhood Club’s website. Summer camps are now fully booked.
The Summer Camps program is one of several initiatives launched by the SFA to encourage youth to stay active; the federation launched its Schools on the Move program earlier this month to help train teachers and provide them with the tools to transform schools into active hubs. These programs make another step forward in fulfilling SFA’s mandate of raising physical activity levels in Saudi Arabia to 40% by 2030 to fulfil the Quality of Life Program objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
