As part of their mission to serve the community and empower women and youth, Saudi Women Stories cooperated with the United Nations coordination office in Saudi Arabia, located in the Diplomatic Quarter, to highlight and raise awareness about the UN75 Initiative.

UN75 is a global initiative by the United Nations to mark its 75th anniversary this year that aims to give voice to the public and crowd source priorities and solutions to the challenges the world is facing today.

Highlighting dramatic changes and complex problems such as the COVID-19 pandemic and climate crisis, and most importantly, the need for a collective action more than ever before, the UN is asking people to put their heads together to define how we can recover better from the pandemic, and realize a better world by 2045, the UN’s 100th birthday.

Saudi Women Stories have worked along with the UN on a campaign to highlight the UN75 messages with Saudi influencers on social media, asking people to support the initiative, share their opinion and contribute to the positive change.

SWS have hosted two inspiring UN75 dialogues during their “Coffee Talks” meetings. The meetings discussed the UN75 initiative, its goals and the importance of global citizenship.

During the events, the audience watched a video message from the UN Secretary-General, Mr. António Guterres, talking about the initiative and the importance of participating to shape our future. They also watched other UN videos about the issues that concern people around the world and discussed the UN75 survey. Consequently, everyone pledged to be positive change makers in their communities.

SWS Founder, Ms. Sheikha Aldosary, also discussed how Saudi Arabia has always been a supporter of the UN and how the Kingdom is working towards realizing the SDG goals. She also announced the launch of the SDGs Riyadh community group that would work on introducing a lifestyle that is more environmentally-friendly while working with their partners to achieve some of the SDGs goals within their communities.
