On November 14, 2020, the Royal Danish Embassy marked the World Diabetes Day in Riyadh. The Embassy of Denmark and Novo Nordisk organized a 12-kilometer cycling event in the Diplomatic Quarter, in collaboration with the Saudi Ministry of Sports, Diplomatic Quarter General Authority and the professional cycling club Wesaya.
The event welcomed women, men, and children of all ages as well as special guests from the Saudi Ministry of Health. After finishing the 12-kilometer ride, all participants were able to enjoy healthy snacks and have their blood sugar measured.
On the same day, all four Nordic embassies and several prominent buildings in Riyadh lit up in blue on the occasion of World Diabetes Day.
The Saturday afternoon was well spent, with a lot of local media coverage to help raise awareness about diabetes and healthy living. The embassy is proud to support a relevant and important cause like this.
