Philippine Embassy Holds Activities for 121st Independence Day

On June 14, 2019, the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh hosted a Filipino Community Night at the Marriott Hotel Diplomatic Quarter in celebration of the 121st Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine.

Philippine Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Adnan V. Alonto led the event which was attended by embassy personnel and some 350 Filipino nationals from various organizations based in Riyadh and the eastern region. Various Filipino dishes were served during the dinner while being entertained by local Filipino performers of the Asosasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit, FESSCOR, Sand Story, Dance Connexion, Riyadh Elite Dancers and Evolution X Dancers. The Filipino Community Night was highlighted by the performances of Filipino Artists from the Philippines, namely, Bayani Agbayani and Jason Dy from the ABS-CBN Network, and Amazing Betong and Lovely Abella from the GMA Network. In conjunction with the Independence Day celebrations, the embassy also held an art exhibit featuring the works of HAGOD Filipino Visual Artists Riyadh at the embassy’s chancery. The contributing artists showcased multimedia art works focusing on Philippine and Saudi Arabian subjects, which highlight this year’s celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Republic of the Philippines and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
