Netherlands Embassy Holds Dutch Veal Week

The Embassy of Netherlands is organizing Dutch Veal Week from May 7-13, 2018. The opening ceremony will be hosted by the event’s main partner, Marriott Riyadh, in the presence of the Dutch Ambassador Joost Reintjes.

During the Dutch Veal Week, a special Dutch veal menu will be available at the Terrace Grill restaurant in Marriott Riyadh. It will include Dutch specialties like Vitello Tomato, Rumpsteak, Ribeye, and Sucade. Chef Edgar Buhrs from the Netherlands will be arriving for a masterclass on veal cooking at the Marriott Hotel for chefs of major 5 star restaurants.

On May 10 and 11, Dutch veal company Van Drie Group will promote Dutch veal in SPAR supermarkets in Riyadh through live cooking. Visitors and customers will have a taste of delicious veal from the Netherlands. The Van Drie Group is the largest integrated veal producer in the world. Their meat has received a star from “Dierenbescherming”, a Dutch NGO on animal welfare. On the other hand, SPAR is a Dutch supermarket chain which recently opened a number of supermarkets in Riyadh, in partnership with Al Sadhan Trading Company.

The Dutch veal is a fast growing top product in Riyadh and other main cities in the Gulf. In Riyadh you can find it in Al Forsan, Carrefour, Spar, and fast food chains like Shawarmer and top restaurants like Lusin.
