September is for celebrations, especially in the historical chronicles of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Mexico. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia celebrated its 94th National Day. Mexico celebrated the 214th Anniversary of the Independence Day. September marks the anniversary of bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and Mexico, established on September 12, 1952.
To celebrate the 214th Independence Day of Mexico, Ambassador Aníbal Gómez Toledo and Mrs. Gómez Toledo hosted a reception – a remarkable tribute to Mexico’s achievements and the transformation that has taken place in the country since its independence. The culmination of the transformation was the election of Mexico’s first female president, Her Excellency Claudia Sheinbaum.
H.E. Aníbal Gómez Toledo delivered a speech by drawing the parallels between the development of Saudi Arabia and Mexico over the past six years. “Our countries’ shared vision of peace and stability has reinforced our bilateral engagement. In the last six years, high-level contacts have multiplied between Mexico and Saudi Arabia, including several ministerial visits in foreign affairs, culture, tourism, and investment.”
The ambassador further stated that the Saudi transformation also reflects on people-to-people ties. “In the first six months of 2024, the demand for services at the Embassy has already surpassed 2019, including visas for Saudi travelers and passports for Mexican citizens living in Saudi Arabia,” highlighted H.E. Gómez Toledo. Ambassador Aníbal Gómez Toledo concluded his speech by stating: “We have paved the way for Mexico and Saudi Arabia to continue progressing in all areas of our relationship. As both countries are regional leaders and G20 economies with shared views of the global agenda.”
September marked the opportunity to reaffirm that the future of Saudi-Mexico friendship is promising.
