Embassy of Bangladesh Welcomes New Ambassador to Saudi Arabia

It is with great honor that we announce the newly appointed Bangladesh Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Mohammad Javed Patwary. He assumed the charge of Ambassador on August 22, 2020. Prior to this, Mr. Patwary worked as the Inspector General of Bangladesh Police (IGP). He served in Bangladesh Police for 35 years with dignity and competency. 

Dr. Patwary graduated with Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Social Welfare from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He also earned his post graduate degree in “Criminal Justice and Police Management” from the University of Leciester, UK and a Ph.D on “Combating Terrorism in Bangladesh: Challenges and Prospects” from Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. 

Dr. Patwary served in four United Nations Peacekeeping Missions and was awarded with a UN medal. He was appointed as Deputy Police Commissioner (Acting) in UN Mission in Sudan. He also served as the Chief of Administration in UN mission in Kosovo, Chief of operation in UN mission in Sierra Leone and Station Commander in UN Protection Force in Croatia. 

His gallantry and bravery in counter terrorism has been shown great admiration with the award of Bangladesh Police Medal (BPM) for two times, the highest award of Police. He also achieved IGP’s Exemplary Good Service Badge twice in recognition of his highest professional standard. 

After taking up his assignment, Ambassador Patwary thanked and expressed his deep gratitude to the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz and Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman for their generous and continued support to Bangladesh. 

The Ambassador also gratefully acknowledged the contribution of the Bangladesh Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and conveyed special thanks to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for kindly appointing him as the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Saudi Arabia. 

Referring to the excellent bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia, Ambassador Patwary said that the two friendly countries will continue to work more closely with the issues of mutual interests bilaterally, regional and globally on the basis of muslim fraternity and Islamic values. Based on the close cooperation and understanding, the bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries will be strengthened in the days ahead, the Ambassador reiterated. The envoy said to establish Bangladesh as the favoured destination for the Saudi investments and also as a reliable brand of sourcing skilled and semi-skilled workers in realization of Bangladesh Vision 2041 and Saudi Vision 2030. 

Mr. Javed Patwary reiterated that Saudi ‘Vision 2030’ and its development road map promoted by the Saudi government under the guidance of the Saudi King and Crown Prince Mohammed Salman offer Bangladesh new areas of engagements and cooperation such as: manpower, trade, investment, education and agriculture, and the Ambassador will continue to strive for full utilization of those potential and untapped areas of collaboration.
