A TASTE OF RIYADH
The Diplomatic Quarter is now home to more than thirty restaurants and cafes, and it is often difficult to choose where to eat. Here’s a list of my personal favorites that will hopefully guide you in answering life’s greatest dilemma: what to eat.
KINDI PLAZA
Burgeration’s Wagyu Special and French Fries
When I want to indulge in a treat for dinner, I head to Burgeration. I love how the components of the burger are proportionate to each other; you get a bite of everything, and it’s not overwhelming. I usually skip French fries at restaurants, but theirs are not to be missed; they are perfectly salted, spiced, crispy, and not too greasy.
Raw.k’s Honey Mustard Chicken Wrap
Raw.k is most known for their healthy food, especially for people who need an on-the-go meal. I like their honey mustard chicken wrap because it’s packed with a generous amount of chicken, along with arugula, avocado, tomato, and honey mustard sauce. The wrap tastes great, and is overall wholesome.
Wacafe’s Hasawi Cookie and Coffee
The Hasawi cookie is one of the best cookies I’ve had in Riyadh. The base of the cookie is perfectly soft and chewy, and is elevated with ingredients from Al-Hasaa in the Eastern Province, which include fennel, black seeds, and dates! It pairs well with a hot cup of coffee.
Dolce Ragusa’s Pastries and Hot Chocolate
I appreciate the authenticity of their Italian pastries, especially with ricotta filling. I don’t usually enjoy sweets, but the sweetness of their pastries is subtle, the quality is fantastic, and the taste is exquisite. During the winter, I consider their hot chocolate an essential; it’s rich and decadent, and perfect to keep warm.
OUD SQUARE
Urth Caffe’s Kale Caravan Salad
Urth Caffe is one of the few places that beautifully prepares kale; ridding it of its tough texture and making eating healthy and delicious a breeze. The salad is composed of ingredients such as sweet potato and quinoa, which give it great sustenance. It is evenly dressed with a balanced vinaigrette, which ties the salad together.
Little Riyadh
Joe and the Juice’s Spicy Tuna Sandwich
I believe their thin and crispy bread is what makes the sandwiches more special; adding a variety of texture and making room for more filling. I recommend their spicy tuna sandwich, which is one of their most popular items.
Fortunately, the mentioned places are in close proximity to each other. Whether you’re looking for healthy options, want to indulge, or simply want an afternoon coffee and pasty, this list won’t disappoint.
