Together with the Danish Agriculture & Food Council, the Royal Danish Embassy hosted the Danish Food Circle Event. Danish companies Bangs, Danæg, HK Scan, Orana, DAVA Foods, Good Foods Group, SKOV, global leaders in providing safe, healthy food of high quality, displayed their products and offered degustation. This initiative has enabled Danish manufacturers to share their expertise in food production, distribution, and processing with the Saudi market representatives as one of the largest and potentially most dynamic and fastest-growing consumer markets in the Middle East.

Opening remarks were delivered by the Ambassador of Denmark, H.E. Ole M. Moesby, who underlined that the Danish food industry is a frontrunner in sustainability and efficiency. The Ambassador brought the example of a public-private partnership sharing the fundamental belief that collaboration is a source of empowerment in which new ideas are created and innovation occurs.

“Danish sectors have a unique ability to unite competencies and collaborate across private companies, organizations, academia, and public authorities. The success of the Danish model of collaboration is illustrated in the organic sector – a result of the high standards and a solid partnership and interaction between producers, organizations, and public authorities,” mentioned H.E. Moesby.

Denmark holds a reputation as a world leader in organic production. As a result, organic products have a more significant share of the retail market in Denmark than anywhere else globally, and consumption is growing every year. As new trends have influenced the interests and tastes of consumers, Danish gastronomy has undergone a rapid change in recent decades, offering healthy, responsibly produced, and delicious food. Nowadays, Denmark is among the world’s gastronomic giants, with a growing number of Michelin stars. Denmark has 38 Michelin stars shared among 27 restaurants.

“The Danish food circle is driven by high ambitions about health, quality, and safety, a collaborative approach in all aspects, and the aim of sustainability. It is facilitated through the Danish innovative spirit and technology,” concluded the Ambassador.

Denmark fights against food loss and waste by offering innovative products, solutions, and technologies with the ultimate goal of producing healthier food while minimizing environmental impact. The high quality and safety in the food circle are important strongholds of the Danish food cluster, ensuring traceability and transparency in the food value chain. As a result, Denmark leads the way towards healthier food.
