National Day of Greece
The Embassy of Greece led by Ambassador Alexis Konstantopoulos and his wife hosted a reception to celebrate the National Day of Greece and commemorate the beginning of the fight for independence and great achievements of Greece. In his speech, Ambassador Alexis Konstantopoulos stated that the evening was a celebration of Greece and Saudi Arabia, their great history, friendship, and mutual appreciation and respect. “Having had the privilege to serve in KSA for some years, I can testify to the incredible changes that have taken place in this country, it completely transformed the country, its people and KSA’s regional and global position,” highlighted H.E. Konstantopoulos.
The Greek community is warmly welcomed in the Kingdom, adding significant value to the Saudi public and private sector, a fine example of Greek know-how and expertise. Accordingly, the evening was not only an official celebration, it was a celebration of a true friendship between two people with an ancient heritage, a booming present and a brilliant future. As a concluding remark, Ambassador Alexis Konstantopoulos expressed hope for the future more in-depth Saudi-Greek partnerships in political, defense, investment and commerce, energy, culture, tourism and sports.
National Day of Poland
Ambassador of the Republic of Poland H.E. Robert Rostek hosted a reception on the occasion of Poland’s National Day. The event was even more significant as it marked the 30th anniversary of Saudi-Polish diplomatic relations and Poland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union. “Today we commemorate the very important event in the history of Poland, namely the signing of the first written European constitution, known as the May Constitution, one of the most progressive acts of law in 18th century Europe. This act laid the foundations of the Polish modern state, that after many historical obstacles and turns took the current form, becoming one of the leading forces in the European Union,” stated Ambassador Robert Rostek in his speech.
H.E. Robert Rostek paid tribute to the Saudi-Polish diplomatic relations and noted that bilateral cooperation goes beyond political visits and also extends to trade, cultural, business relations, among other promising areas. He emphasized that the value of Polish-Saudi trade exchange exceeds $8 billion, and more and more companies are coming to Saudi Arabia, and many of them decide to stay permanently, opening their offices in Riyadh and other cities. In his remarks about the Polish Presidency at the Council of the European Union, Ambassador Rostek stressed that security is the highest priority, be it defense, health care or food security.
