On the eve of the centennial birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabondhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Embassy of Bangladesh in Riyadh organized the Taste of Bangladesh Food Festival at the Bangladesh House on October 28, 2019. Syeada Gul-E-Arzoo, wife of Bangladesh Ambassador to Saudi Arabia along with her daughters Ayesha Marium and Amina Fatema hosted members of WHOM, Saudi nationals, international guests and members of the Bangladeshi community to celebrate the rich culture and tradition of Bangladeshi cuisine.

She shared an exciting recipe with the audience from her cookbook, Alpana’s Cooking, which has recently received the top award at the 24th Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2019 in Macau. The evening was followed by a traditional Bangladeshi dinner featuring popular dishes such as Tehari, Hilsa Fish (the national fish of Bangladesh), Chicken Korma and so on. Guests also enjoyed Bakorkhani, an old-fashioned flakey flatbread native to Dhaka, Poneer, a Bangladeshi white cheese, Halua, Bangladeshi-style sweet yogurt and a variety of traditional sweets commonly known as Mishti. Live stations with Bangladeshi women preparing a variety of warm Pithas – special Bangladeshi cakes, wowed guests.
